An outpatient spa treatment - officially an "outpatient preventive service in recognised health resorts" - serves to promote health and prevent illness. It usually lasts three weeks and is subsidised by your statutory health insurance provider. This covers the medical treatment in full and 90% of the cost of the spa treatment. A subsidy of up to €16 per day is granted for accommodation and meals. The remaining costs are borne by the insured person themselves.

  1. Medical prescription:
    Your family doctor issues a prescription for an outpatient preventive treatment at a recognised health resort such as Waldbronn.
  2. Application to the health insurance fund:
    Submit the prescription to your health insurance company using the form "Suggestion for an outpatient preventive service at recognised health resorts".
  3. Wait for the costs to be covered:
    Please note that we must receive confirmation from your health insurance company before the start of your spa stay. A copy or picture of the confirmation by e-mail is sufficient.
  4. Choose accommodation:
    After approval, you are free to decide which accommodation in Waldbronn suits you best - whether a cosy private room, holiday flat or comfortable hotel. You can find information on local guest houses and hotels in Waldbronn here.
  5. Appointment with the spa doctor:
    As soon as your cure has been approved, please make an appointment with our spa doctor. This should be done at least six weeks before the start of your treatment to avoid waiting times.

According to § 23 Para. 2 SGB V, outpatient preventive care is one of the compulsory benefits provided by the health insurance funds. If your application is rejected, you can lodge an objection within four weeks. Healing indication:

The Waldbronn healing spring has been proven to alleviate symptoms of

  • Degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthrosis, spondylosis, osteochondrosis)

  • Rheumatic diseases

  • Consequences of operations or accidents

  • Circulatory disorders

  • Neurovegetative disorders of the spine

  • Joint and spinal disorders

Contraindication:

Not recommended for acute inflammation, rheumatic attacks or serious cardiovascular diseases.

The health insurance fund covers the full cost of medical treatment and 90% of the cost of therapeutic and spa products. In addition to the other costs (accommodation, meals, travel costs), the health insurance company can grant a flat-rate subsidy of up to € 16.00 per day for adults.

An additional € 10.00 per prescription and 10 % of the cost of remedies will be charged for your share of the costs. In Waldbronn, a spa tax of € 2.00 per night is added.

Waldbronn is a recognised health resort and offers ideal conditions for outpatient preventive cures. However, such a cure for citizens from Waldbronn is not usually carried out directly on site. The legal requirements stipulate that the cure takes place in another spa town. This serves to create distance from everyday life and to allow full concentration on the health measures, which promotes the effectiveness of the cure.

Exceptions are possible: In special cases, an outpatient preventive health cure can be applied for and approved directly in Waldbronn if there are exceptional circumstances. These include, for example, health restrictions or family obligations that prevent travelling to another health resort. Such requests are examined individually by the health insurance company.
